New Shopping Center Development? May 25, 2010

New development?  In this market?  There has been very little talk in the last year about any new retail development projects in the NW we are always surprised when we hear of something new coming out of the ground.  It definitely helps a project make sense when the developer is also the anchor tenant!  Safeway’s development arm just announced a new 150,000 sf grocery-anchored retail center in Bothell called the Lakeside at Canyon Park.  Read more from the DJC…

Safeway plans new Bothell shopping center

Safeway Inc. said it plans to build a 150,000-square-foot shopping center, anchored by one of its supermarkets, in the Canyon Park area of Bothell.

The Pleasanton, Calif. company (NYSE: SWY) said its Property Development Centers subsidiary will build the new center at the southwest corner of 240th Street and the Everett-Bothell Highway. It will include seven retail buildings in addition to the Safeway store.

The center is expected to open in 2011.
