Mall turns Town Square June 2, 2010

The Westfield Vancouver Mall in Vancouver, Washington is becoming a town square of sorts. By increasing community events held at the center and leasing to the former Mervyn’s space to a large church, they’ve begun to rebuild retail traffic and their tenant base. This comes even after Westfield decided to cancel plans to build a multi-screen cinema and develop a 500,000-square-foot wing.  Getting creative in this market environment is essential for survival. I guess a hoping for a little divine intervention can’t hurt either.
