As a follow up to a previous post on this blog, Blockbuster has announced the first round of store closures as a result of their Chapter 11 filing.  The list provides some momentary relief for retail owners in Washington State as only one store is scheduled to be close immediately.  That store is located on N Indian Trail Rd.  in Spokane.   In 2009, Blockbuster closed another Spokane location on N. Newport Hwy.  As the movie rental industry continues to evolve there is no doubt that more stores will continue to close or not renew leases.  At least the pain of future closures will be somewhat reduced as the leasing market picks up over the next couple of years.

Check out Costar’s Watch List for a write up and complete list of store closures.
