The unfinished parking garage in downtown Kent that has cleared a major hurdle that should allow it to finally be completed.  The DJC is reporting that the City has finally taken control of ownership through foreclosure last Friday.

The city secured the property, located at Fourth Avenue North and West Smith Street, through foreclosure on Friday. The city held a first position deed of trust because the developer, Ben Errez of Plan B Development of Bellevue, was going to provide some public parking in the garage.”

In other good news, a new restaurant chain is moving north from Arizona.  The Puget Sound retail market could use every one of the projected 10 stores to open right away.  The new restaurant’s, Julianito’s, should begin opening shortly.  The first is opening in the former 3,000 sf Longhorn BBQ on the East Hill of Kent.  The DJC article is here.

If his plan comes to fruition, Julianito’s stores together could occupy as much as 30,000 square feet of commercial space and create up to 150 mostly full-time jobs in the region depending on sales and volume.”

It ill be interesting to see where they start popping up.  We all know there are plenty of vacant spaces to chose from…
